Oxycerin Reviews
Oxycerin is a new acne treatment that is a bit different than the competition. The company calls it an acne “serum” as opposed to a cream or a gel. They claim that the addition of tea tree oil is what makes this product better than the competition. Since it is new to the market, no long term research has been done, so this claim is impossible to confirm or deny at this point.
Oxycerin: How It Works
The tea tree oil in Oxycerin is the main acne fighting ingredient. Harvested from the melaleuca tree in Australia, it has natural astringent properties that are supposed to have the same effect as benzoyl peroxide, with fewer side effects, like drying out your skin. In theory, this sounds like a great solution, but as mentioned above, there is no research yet to back up this claim.
Oxycerin contains five percent tea tree oil. The company claims that this natural oil gets into pores to thoroughly clean them and clear away acne fast. It also says it will shrink pores and get rid of blackheads both of which will prevent future outbreaks of acne. It does this by penetrating deep into the skin and pores and destroying toxins and micro organisms that cause acne in the first place. They say that tea tree oil does not cause the dryness, itching, stinging or burning that benzyl peroxide can cause. It is designed to clear up acne, prevent new acne, and soothe damaged skin resulting from acne outbreaks.
In addition to the tea tree oil, Oxycerin also contains aloe vera, licorice root, white willow bark and hyaluronic acid. Aloe is an ancient remedy for healing wounds and soothing the skin. That is why it is used as sunburn relief. Licorice root is also soothing; it is known to reduce inflammation. White willow bark is the source of salicylic acid, a common acne fighting ingredient, often considered the most effective of the over the counter active ingredients available today. Hyaluronic acid is added for its moisturizing properties.
Advantages
1. The company’s website does explain quite a bit of the research they have done on tea tree oil and its effectiveness in fighting acne breakouts as well as other things tea tree oil has been used for such as dandruff.
2. The treatment consists of only one step which fights acne and soothes and moisturizes at the same time. This makes it less time consuming than other products that require you to do two or even three different steps with three different products to achieve the same effects.
3. Supposedly less harsh than chemical alternatives, but with the same or better results.
Disadvantages
1. Cost. Oxycerin is very expensive compared to other brands of acne medicine, especially considering it contains only natural ingredients.
2. The product is new, so there is no way of knowing the long term results of any of the ingredients and it does not have any proven acne fighting ingredients.
3. There are very few customer reviews available, and not all are positive.
