Johnson and Johnson has years of experience making body care products, including ones for fighting acne. Their latest product is a new formula devised of a three part system that fights acne breakouts and creates clear beautiful skin at the same time. The three parts of the kit are: a cleanser designed specifically for acne control, a facial moisturizer, and a concentrated spot treatment that makes quick work of individual zits.

You have more than likely seen Johnson and Johnson products advertised on TV and seen them on store shelves for years. The fact that the name has been around means that you should be able to trust that the product will not harm you, but the question is: Will it help eliminate your acne? Johnson and Johnson claims to have done clinical trials to test the Clean and Clear system and reports positive results. These trial results are not readily available to the public so they cannot be verified.

The Three Part System

The first step in the three part system, the acne cleanser, uses Benzoyl Peroxide as its main active ingredient. Benzoyl Peroxide is not a new chemical; in fact, it has been used in acne fighting medicines for years. It does a good job of cleaning grease and dirt from the face, but the downside it that it is very harsh and dries out the delicate skin of the face.

This leads us to the second part of the Clean and Clear package, the moisturizer. This product contains salicylic acid, which is effective in clearing blemishes from the skin as well as exfoliating dead skin cells and reducing further oil production. The main purpose of the moisturizer, however, is to combat the drying effects of the harsh first stage.

The third part of the package is the spot treatment for isolated breakouts. The full list of ingredients for this part has not been published, but it is likely to be little more than a concentrated version of the formula for the first part. Johnson and Johnson claims that is work quickly to clear stubborn pimples, but again the results of any trials that may have been performed have not been made public. The nice part of this product is it is easy to use in a single so that you avoid drying out your whole face when battling one trouble spot.

Disadvantages
1. No guarantees from the company that the products will work except for claims that are not backed up with hard evidence.
2. The acne cleanser contains harsh chemicals that may help your acne, but will also severely dry out your face. This is the same chemical that is in most of the over the counter cleansers. It will clean your face better than soap, but will not cure your acne.
